Ivory Kimball


Ivory George Kimball was an American lawyer who served as a police court judge in Washington, D.C., foryears. He was also the primary advocate for the Arlington Memorial Amphitheater at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington County, Virginia.

Kimball was born on May 5, 1843, on a farm near Jay, Maine. His parents were Wilbraham Kimball, Jr. and Anna L. Kimball . His ancestor, Richard Kimball, emigrated from Ipswich, Suffolk, England, to Boston, Massachusetts, arriving in America on April 10, 1674. The Kimballs moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, in June 1846. Ivory Kimball was educated in the city public schools, receiving a high school diploma at the age of 16. This qualified him to teach, which he did from 1860 to 1862.
